St. Louis,  Missouri

The Side Project Brewing Cellar, a top St. Louis destination for craft beer enthusiasts, needed an outdoor space to host guests due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and a preexisting lack of interior square footage. The owners wanted to carry the organic design language from the interior of the bar outdoors, but space was limited.

The V3 team envisioned the solution of repurposing the underutilized space in the rear of the existing building, which previously contained HVAC units and dumpsters. Our designers worked with the City of Maplewood and several consultants and engineers to bring this solution to life. Now complete, the patio provides valuable extra space for guests to enjoy.

The design intent for this space was an intimate, European-style patio infused with an old-world charm reminiscent of the barreling and aging process inherent in every beer that Side Project Brewing creates.

Locally made steel and white oak panels frame the space and provide a visual barrier between the parking lot, adjacent properties, and utility areas. Custom tables and chairs carry this color palette inward, and interlocking pavers stretch throughout the space in a nod to the surrounding brick structures.
